Organizing Desktop DIY

I have always tried to keep my computer as organized as I can, while keeping it as pretty as possible:)

Well today I will show you something that changed my entire view of organizing my laptop!

Because I recently found out that besides altering you desktop wallpaper, you can also adjust the icons of your folders!

And where did I get the idea from? Well, Ikea of course! They have a downloadable wallpaper of an Ikea closet, and you can use icons of their storage boxes to put in the closet, genius!

So I came up with the idea to do this myself. I designed a background with three different closets, and drew miniature icons of boxes, suitcases and a camera to place in the closets.

Now I can easily find the right folders and my laptop is even prettier than before!

How to get this pretty organized desktop?

Strawberry Shortcake Muffins

I recently found this amazing Strawberry Shortcake Muffins recipe on Dashingdish, that I just had to try!

The reason why the recipe is so special, is because it doesn’t include any flour or butter! The main ingredients are greek yoghurt, oats and strawberries. And they are delicious!

I love baking, and I think that this recipe just makes it so much fun because they are the most healthy muffins you could ever bake!

Spring is here!

It is finally Spring Time! I have been waiting for this for such a long time, I am just really not a winter person.

The weather in Holland unfortunately still didn’t realize that it is supposed to bring sunny days to this side of the world, but I am still happy knowing that it will come soon:)

And spring time also means that it will soon be time for more flowy outfits, fresh recipes and lot’s of springtime crafts!

Pompom Tutorial

I am currently working for fabulous designer Miek Uittenhout as an intern. And one of the fun things that I did while working for her was making a huge pompom skirt.

Making the pompoms for the skirt was so easy that I kept thinking of all the different ways to incorporate the round pretty things in my home or wardrobe.

So I found some images that seem perfect as a pompom project!

Here’s a tutorial on how to create your own pompom’s and after that a few crafty ideas to use them:)

1. Cut the tule in small long strips. I used two different colors: pink and white.

2. Get a piece of cardboard and cut two circles with a hole inside. The width of the cardboard will decide how big you pompom is going to be. Also make sure that the hole isn’t to big! (and also not to small, because you will want to be able to pull the tule trough).

3. Place the two cardboard pieces on each other. And start wrapping the tule around the cardboard, like in the picture.

4. Finish the whole circle with the same color. Try to make the thickness of the tule even around the entire circle.

5. Take your second color and starting wrapping it around over the first color.

6. Repeat these steps until the hole in the middle is to small to pull the tule through.

7. Get a knife or some scissors and cut the tule through the middle, holding you scissors in between the two cardboards.

8. Take a piece of string and wrap it in between the two pieces of cardboard. Pull it as tight as you can. Then remove the cardboard.

All done!

* The size really depends on the size of your outer circle versus the inner circle. So you can experiment with different circles.

** The tight you wrap the tule around the cardboard, the more will fit in there and the fuller the pompom will be.

Cookie Dough Cupcake Recipe

Well, my Baking Time evening did not only result in some delicious cookies, I also made these tasty cupcakes! So get ready for some serious sweet baking!

And guess what, the leftover cookie dough is actually the same as the dough for my chocolate chip cookie recipe! So maybe you should make some extra and have two tasty treats ;)

Here’s how:

Cookie dough

110 g Butter

150 g Flour
75 g Sugar

75 g Brown castersugar
2 tablespoons Milk

50 g Chocolate sprinkles

1 teaspoon Vanilla extract

1 pinch of Salt

Ingredients for 12 cupcakes

125 g butter

125 g Brown castersugar

125 g Self raising flour

2 tablespoons Milk

2 Eggs

1 teaspoon Vanilla extract

Frosting

45 g Flour

240 ml Milk

200 g Butter

200 g Powdered sugar

5 ml Vanilla extract

3 eetlepels cacaopoeder

Make the cookie dough 3 hours before you want to prepare the cupcakes.

Recipes:

Cookie Dough

- Put everything in a bowl and knead the dough.

- Add the chocolate sprinkles.

- Take the dough out of the bowl and roll the dough into a long roll. Slice small pieces from the roll.

- Place the dough pieces in the freezer for at least 3 hours.

Cupcakes:

- Preheat the over to 170 degrees.

- Place all the dry ingredients in a bowl and mix.

- Add the wet ingredients and mix until the mixture is lump free.

- Fill the cupcake holders half way with the mixture.

- Place a frozen cookie dough piece in every cupcake holder en push the piece downwards to cover it with the cupcake mixture.

- Place the cupcakes in the over for 20 minutes.

Frosting:

- Place the milk and flour in a saucepan and place it over a low fire.

- Stir the ingredients until the mixture is smooth and thick. Take it of the fire and let it cool down to room temperature.

- Put the butter, powdered sugar and vanilla extract in a bowl and mix them.

- Add the milk and flower mixture and keep stirring.

- Finally at the cacao powder and mix the frosting smooth and lump free.

- Place the frosting in the fridge and decorate the cupcakes with the frosting as soon as they are cooled down.

All done!

Inspirational Tuesday

I recently went to a wonderful festival with several Nordic musicians. And that is where I first saw Ane Trolle. She is an amazing singer and songwriter from Denmark. I just love her music and I am so happy to have seen her perform live!

Today I want to show you one of her music video’s called Honest Wall. I think that the atmosphere in the video is wonderful and really like how it has a vintage feel to it!

Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe

Remember my Baking Time evening? Well it’s time to share my Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe with you! I already finished them all (not by myself of course:)) and they turned out great!

So get ready for the easiest and fastest cookie recipe ever!

Ingredients:

110 g Butter

150 g Flower

75 g Sugar

75 g Brown castersugar

2 tablespoons Milk

50 g Chocolate sprinkles

1 teaspoon Vanilla extract

1 pinch of Salt

Recipe:

- Preheat the oven to 170 degrees.

- Put all the ingredients into a bowl except for the chocolate sprinkles. Kneed everything together to make the dough.

- Once everything is mixed, add the chocolate sprinkles to the dough.

- Take the dough out of the bowl and make the cookies in your choice of shape.

- Place the cookies in the oven for 15 to 20 minutes. Let them cool down before you take them of the oven plate.
