I am a person that loves color, but there are some of those days that it seems like nothing in your wardrobe or interior matches. Today was one of those days, and instead of fighting it and keep trying to let everything match, I decided to accept it!

Because there is one combination with all the answers that always works: black & white. And it might sound boring but trust me, you can bring live and creativity to this lovely combo!

Snow Globe DIY

I have always wanted to make my own snow globe but figured that it would be impossible to make. Until I found these snow globes on Anthropologie, and thought: ‘I can do that!’

I bought a tiny jar and decided to use shrink plastic for the tree to give it a more personal touch.

It was so much fun to make and I love shaking it and watch the pretty glitters swirl!

Supplies:

Tiny jar, shrink plastic, glitters, glue

1. Download the Free Printable Template and trace the shape onto the shrink plastic.

2. Cut the shape out of the shrink plastic and place it in the oven, follow the instruction on the shrink plastic pack.

3. Use some glue to attach the tiny tree to the lit of the jar.

4. Put your glitters into the jar.

5. Fill the jar with water.

6. Place the lit on the jar and use your glue gun to seal the edges of the lit to prevent from leaking.

All done! Now let’s Shake Shake Shake!

Lana’s Podge DIY

I have seen many tutorials on making your own version of Mod Podge that I just had to try it myself. For those of you that don’t know what Mod Podge is: It’s a glue that is normally used for decoupaging, but a lot of crafters also use it for pretty much everything else, because it attaches on almost every surface giving a sheer finish.The down part of Mod Podge is, is that it’s kinda expensive. It’s not as expensive to not make me buy it, but for some projects I could use a cheaper version.

There are a lot of discussions going around saying that the homemade version is not the same thing as the ‘real deal’. And let me just be clear by saying that this is not the same as Mod Podge. It’s a formula that has similar qualities as the real recipe, but it’s not the same. I’ve read that the homemade version can give a yellow glow after a couple of years and doesn’t hold as long as the real podge.

This being sad, I still needed a cheap glue that’s similar to Mod Podge for my smaller projects. I wouldn’t use this for something that needs to stay intact for many years, but it would be great for experiments and low budget crafts.

And to finish it of, I made a fun label and gave it my own name;)

Want to know how to make my homemade podge? Here’s how:

1. Get your supplies: white glue (which is children’s glue, I bought it Hema); jar; paper with a fun pattern; paint brush or sponge; scissors; pen and some water.

2. Cut a fun shape out of the paper.

3. Write the name of your podge on the paper.

4. Making the podge: Take your white glue and put it in the jar.

5. Fill the glue container halfway with water.

6. Add the water to the glue.

7. Shake, shake, shake! And the podge is done!

8. Put some podge on the back of your label and paste it onto the jar, let it dry.

9. Apply a layer of the lodge over the label to seal it.

Lampshade DIY

Here is an easy tutorial for a yarn lampshade. I was inspired by all those lamps made out of yarn that people are making these days, using a balloon. So I thought why not make a regular shaped lampshade but with the yarn technique to make a look more unique.

I bought this lamp at a thrift store, but it’s originally from Ikea. The lamp itself is pretty big and heavy, so I thought that this yarn idea would make the lamp a bit more modern.

Here’s how I did it:

1. Get your supplies:

- On old lampshade, in the shape you want your creation to be.

- Yarn

- Bakingpaper

- Wallpaper glue

- scissors

- tape or a stapler

- superglue

2. Remove the top of your lampshade, or any part that holds it to the foot of the lamp(you will be needing this to attach your homemade lampshade back to the lamp)

3. Cover the lampshade with the baking paper. This is to make sure that the yarn won’t stick to the lampshade. You can try to use tape to attach the paper to the lampshade, but a stapler worked better for me.

4. Staple or tape the first piece of the yarn to the baking paper.

5. Start whirling the yarn around the lampshade.

6. Mix the wallpaper glue with water and gently dab the yarn with the glue. Make sure that every piece is covered in glue.

7. Let the glue dry. This can take a while, it took my lampshade three days to completely dry.

8. Get your superglue and glue the basis back to the new lampshade, so you can reattach it to the lamp.

Pink & Neon Yellow Triangle nails DIY

I felt like adding a bit of color because of the grey skies here in Holland, so here is a new and festive nail tutorial for you!

You will need: Two colors of nail polish that you like together. And a white nail polish with a thin brush. I used a neon yellow and a regular pink.

Apply two layers of the yellow.

Add the pink by gently brushing it onto your nails in a triangular shape. Be as precise as you can, but don’t worry if the edges aren’t as sharp as you’d like. Because the white lines will cover that up for you.

Apply a thin white line over the line of the pink nail polish. Then, paint a line from the button of your nails until you meet the other white lines.

All done!

Flower Pots DIY

My house has a huge garden and a balcony. Boyfriend already worked a lot in the garden and is now growing vegetables and it all looks really nice. So I decided to leave the garden to him, and start a balcony project for myself. The balcony is pretty boring, it has a grey floor and some light grayish walls. So I decided to spice it up with A LOT of flowerpots! I went to the local thriftstore and bought about 10 boring and some very ugly flowerpots. I spray painted them and applied flowery patterned fabric on them as decoration. They all look so nice now!

Want to restyle your own flowerpots?Here’s how:

1. Materials:

- Pieces of fabric

- Scissor

- Glossy spray paint in the color of your choosing

- Mod podge + paintbrush

- Flowerpots ;)

2. Take some old flowerpots and put them on a piece of paper

3. Spray paint the flowerpots.( I did 3 layers)

4. Let the flower pots dry

5. Cut out a piece of fabric in the size you want your flowerpot to be decorated.

6. Apply a coat of mod podge onto the area where you want your fabric to be.

7. Apply the fabric onto the flowerpot and make sure that there are no bubbles underneath the fabric, I smoothed it out with my fingers rubbing up and down. Let the mod podge underneath the fabric dry

8. Apply two more coats of mod podge, with a period of time between the layers to let the mod podge dry.

Put some nice flowers in there and you are done!

Capturing The Moments

One of the things that I enjoy the most about having my blog, is that wherever I go, I always bring my camera with me. I am always on the hunt for new and inspiring things. Mostly I just take photographs of things that inspire me and I want to remember that for an occasion where I might use it. But some days I just like capturing my life as it is on that moment.

These pictures where taken last weekend when me and my boyfriend went cycling and I just loved the view from this bridge. The last picture is the local thrift store. It’s in my street and it’s actually just a house turned into a cute little store, I love it!
